Anything I should know before I start?

Yes. We have some basic regulations for posting ads on the site. Some are general for all ads, others are specific on the type of ad you want to post. Try to have a quick read through them, to avoid us having to bother you to change something.

The first step you’ll have to choose are the category you desire your ad to go in, and if any location you’re going to post. These are important steps, and the details you are unable to change once the ad is live.

It’s important to choose the correct category because you’ll get more exposure. No one will look for a cat in the Flat section, because they’ll look in the Pets section instead. There’s a category for any items, and it’s now that much easier to find. Use the ‘Tell us what you are posting’ option – you’ll just need to let us know whatever it is you’re selling, and we’ll tell you where the most eye-catching place to post it is!

Location is equally as critical because we are a local classifieds site, people look for local buys. They want to browse the items and may pay in face by face. Putting in your location in your ads, as a seller, means that other people can come and look at the items, and most likely this gets you a faster sale.

Tips:

– Categories are divided into sub-categories, so if you don’t want to type what you are selling, you can click in the breaking down to be as specific as possible.
– You can select your location (using drop-down options) if you want a wonderful map on your ad to show people where you are.

Next you can fill up a title and details for your ad. You can add picture to help your ad show up on the listings. You can also add a link to a YouTube video or your website if you want to. The more eye-catching you make it, the more views you’ll get.

You can also add features to your ad to help you get more exposure. There number of features you can choose from, and they all have different purposes. Make sure you select the correct one that’s best suit you by reading what they are before you do anything.

Of course you’ll need to put a price on the ad. Give people the true price. It’s troublesome when you ask someone about the price, and they give you a different one to what was actually written on the ad.

What will my ad cost me?

Good question. There is no one price. Many of the ads on SmartNet are free, and the price will depend on whether you choose to feature your ad or not. We may charge for ads posted in Cars, Services, Property and Jobs in the future, but they are free now  The most suitable way to know what cost you is to create a fake ad (without posting it). You will see your price at the bottom of the page.

Last advice: After you post an ad you’ll be given an ad reference number or ad identifier. Save it, so if you ever need to contact us, we’ll be able to locate your ad at the first time.
